The first in a planned row of SMT tools to collect statistical data describing service and usage for standard business applications is SMT/SAP. It interfaces with SAP systems on all platforms and selects SAP-statistics regarding consumption, bottlenecks, volumes etc. per business system.

SMT/SAP uses the framework of either SMT/Server Capacity (for SAP implemented on open systems) or SMT/ERM (for SAP implemented on mainframe) to provide storage and retrieval of valuable information about the installation’s SAP applications, usable as a basis for decisions also on the tactical and strategic levels.

SMT/SAP introduces a new level of information within reporting on any platform – a level where service and usage (and therefore costs) for SAP applications can be visualised per business system or organisational unit.

SMT/SAP may add valuable information to IT Service Delivery (IT Service Design) disciplines as well as to IT Business Intelligence.
