SMT Data also offers a sublime overview over all those network components that always seem to avoid attention until it is too late: Routers, attached storage, printers etc. With SMT/SNMP it is now possible to use the unique and solid framework of the core SMT tools to provide storage and retrieval of valuable information from these components.

SMT/SNMP collects statistical data regarding almost any network-attached component (created individually through SNMP). The data is sorted and evaluated according to installation requirements and the selected data can be aggregated into a statistically valid and meaningful history. This way the amount of data is reduced to a level where an installation is able to keep several years of historic data for trend analysis - at a low cost.

The collected data is stored in a data warehouse, which can be equipped with additional dimensions of information supplied by the organisation. This means that available information may be stored and retrieved according to non-technical qualifiers – i.e. by business area, organisational unit etc.

SMT/SNMP has several ways of creating meaningful reports, including a genuine BI interface. Drill-down from the sublime overview down to focus on the most detailed level is possible through a few mouse-clicks.

SMT/SNMP may add valuable information to IT Service Delivery (IT Service Design) disciplines as well as to IT Business Intelligence.
